The road bumps are throughout much of East Africa and do slow travel, though not as much as the police road blocks every 30-50kms in Zimbabwe. <br /><br />I have to say, 45minutes is a pretty quick wait for a meal on the African continent in a restaurant/hotel. We waited nearly 3 hours in Zanzibar one night for dinner, and I waited up to an hour for drinks in various bars - absolutely no concept of time or processing orders in a queue. Street food is much quicker and often better quality because they're not trying to cook to abstract Western ideas/standards. I didn't get sick once while I was away and mainly ate local/street food (I'd had all the vaccines but just call me iron guts!) I always drank bottled or treated water though. <br /><br />Look forward to hearing more of the adventure! Stay safe and keep having fun!
